Dear Father Mother Brothers and sisters
I agane seat myself for the purpose of conversing a few lines with you I am well as well and in as good health as I ever was and hope that those few lines may find you all enjoying the same blessing I have nothing of importance to wright you except the battle at canton which I regret was a fals report wee are all doing verry well down her I feel like that I was out on a visit to return in a few days I want to see you all verry mutch but ef you will but wright and give me all the news up in montgomry I will bee very well satesfyed I want to hear from grand Pah verry mutch but never expect to hear that he is alive agane Ginerall Tilghman is hear wher he expects to remain for som tim wee are under his command he inspectd us this morning and is going to finish equiping of us shortly it is thought that wee will remain hear this winter ef wee do captan sugg says that wee will put up houses to live in wee went to work yesterday on the fortification by the order of Cornel McGavvock but when Gineral Tilghman came he / said that wee had better go to drilling and put the negros to work on the fortifications diging never went very well with us no way the orders of the cornel was to not let the sick nether stay hear nor go hom but go to dover to the hospital but captan sugg says that when his men get sick they have to go hom he sent one of the adamses home sevral days ago capt sugs company all hands and the coocks too went to church last sabbath I never saw a smoke house smoke worse thare was four young ladys out at church on was very nicice looking but not like the girls up in montgomery Pah you need not have mee ary knife mad our General says wee will have no youse of for them I want you to wright as soon as you get this letter direct your letters to Privat Wesley H Frey Care of Captan Sugg Fort Donaldson Tennessee I must bring my letter to a close for the presant my best respects remain with you all
