Dear Father Mother Brothers and Sisters
I now seat myself the third tim for the purpose of conversing a few lines with you I am well hoping that those few lines may find you all enjoying the same blessing I have nothing of intrest to communicate to you I rote to you several times but no aunser has ever cam to hand yet I herd that Grand pah was dead and bearied heads regement came to this place day before yesterday wee wer very well pleased to see them com wee have a force of about fifteen hundred men heads regement is not armed yet they expect ther arms to bee hear in a few days lutenant A Tiler Charly Gill Norflet carney and my self went out in the country day before yesterday to press in wagons to drag up logs to build huts for us to live in gineral tilmon stoped the solders from working on the fortifications and pressed in the negros and put them to work in our place it was the first tim that I had bin away this fort wee traveld about seven miles before wee found a wagon fit for the buisness this county is a hard place thare is nothing but / hills and vallys I am as well satesfyed as could be expected I would love to see you all verry well but I think it is verry likely that I shall come hom som time this winter but I dont know when I want you to wright as soon as you get this letter and give me all the newes I want to know how you are geting a long with your farm I want to hear how Clinton gets along at school I hav forty diferant storys to tell you ef I could see you I cant think of mutch to wright to you to day tell Ritchard Highsmith that I want him to leave the stay backs and com down her and join our company it is a strange fellow that wontent be a solder to stand guard such a knight as last night was I must bring my broken remarks to a close and let Colman wright
