Dear Father Mother Brothers and Sisters I now seat my self for the purpose of conversing a few lines with you I am now at Fort Donelson our Boat left Clarksvill at three oclock wee got to Dover about darl dark wee had to walk the balance of the way our are things are all hear the soldiers are stationed one evry hill in two miles of this place sugg is our Cornnel and head is our Brigadier Gineral the boys had a little brush with the yanks day before yesterday & the yanks licked our boys pretty bad thare was about seventy of our boys boy came in contacted with about six hundred of the linconites they say that wee killed three and wounded seven or eight they linconites wounded several of our men one of them died to day he he was a member of captan Fixes company I think from what that I can learn that the [?] enemy dont intend give us a trial I have not got time to wright mutch this tim I will try to wright to you in a few days so no more at presant
