Dear Father
I agane attempt to wright you a few lines I wrote to you afew days before christmas but hav not recieved any awnser yet I am well at this time and doing well better perhaps than you supose the wether is very cold at this time and has bin for sevral days previous to this I wrote to you in my last letter that I was destitute of bed ch clothing wee that had no blankets have drawn one apeace since wee have bin hear I was captured on the twenty fifthe of last November on Mishon Ridge near Chattanooga Tennessee I want you to wright as soon as you get this and send mee some money ef you pleas I have not got a dime that is any acount here wright one side of a sheate and it will come through safe Direct your letters to Wesley. H. Frey. Rock. Island Ill Barracks No 20 for the presant I will close give my best love to ma and all the children and recieve a good portion to yourself
