Although I have Rote to you sevral times and recieved no awnser I shal attemp to wright again to you this morning the wether is very cold hear at this time the prospects of my ever coming home are gloomy thoug an allwise Providence may so order it that I can come home at some future day I am a greate way from home in prison and no prospect of geting out without one cent of money that is any servis to me hear and very thinly clad besides though I hav not suffered any yet from cold but I thank God for my good health I am in better health than I ever enjoyed before in my life Ed Rose is hear he recieved a letter from camp Duglas yesterday (from D[?] Highsmith) the boys ar all well I have to exchang my bread Rations for Post Stamps to wright to you let me hear from you soon without fail give my best love and respects to all equiring friends and recieve a full share to yourselves
