            Dear Father
                                    thoug I have recieved no letter from you for a long while I will attempt to wright a few lines to you this morning I am enjoying a reasonable portion of health at this time and I hope that those few lines may find you all in the same condition I have nothing new to relate to you the health of the prisoners is improving the smallpox is dying out I am myself low spirted and home sick I try to forget home for a time but evry moment som new thought of home and Friends far away presents it self to my mind all most the day through is s[paper fold]y ocupyed to things that are fare away in the stormy distace I can but wait patiently for the workings of and all wise Providence and I do hope and trust in his stregth to deliver me from the shackles of this unrightious ware I wante to come home and live in that peace unsulied which was set before us bye that God who rules all things well I wante you to wright to me often for I love to recieve letters from you I heard that Sy Sugg was dead which I regret very mutch for the presant I must close
