Wesley H. Frey to Thomas J. Frey, 29 March 1864
U S Military Prison, Rock Island, Illinois
March 29, 1864
Dear Father:—
Your letter of the 24th is at hand, and am enabled, through the kindness of a friend, to answer it. Your kind epistle found me quite unwell I am afflicted with severe pains all over my body. I think it was caused by too much exxercise having indulged in a game of ball an evening or two previous to my indisposition. I think, however, I will soon be all right again. You asked me if Charley Gardner had received his box; yes, he got it some time ago. You also spoke of sending me some tobacco; it would be very acceptable, indeed, and I would be very thankful to you if you would do so.
We have been enjoying fine spring weather for the last two weeks, but to-day is not so fine—being very cloudy, and threatening rain. I am at a loss to know what is transpiring in the outer world. No more at present. Please answer this in haste.
Your obedient Son,
Wesley H. Frey
