Wesley H. Frey to Thomas J. Frey, 4 April 1864
Prison Hospital Ward No 4 April 4th 1864

My dear Father
I write to inform you that my health is not so good as it was some time since I am at this time in Hospital and have Lumbago which I suppose was caused by over exertion, but I am in hopes my case will not be a serious one for any length of time though I am suffering greatly now at times

You wrote to me you would forward me a box which I hope you have done before this if not I wish you to forward to barrack No 20 which will ensure my getting it

Prison life is tiresome and I hope it may not be long ere it will cease. We are all treated very well and I have no complaint to make.

My love to Mother and the children and all friends and may God protect us and permit us to meet again around the fireside of my childhood if not may we live so that when death shall come we may meet in heaven

                                                                                    Your obt Son
Write immediately                                                                 Westley Frey
