Dear Father
I am able to site up on my cot to day and wright you a few lines which is somthing that I have not bin able to do since the twenty sixth of march I was taken that day with sevier pains all over my body and afterward setteled in my back and leggs rendering me entirely helpless untill knight before last at that tim my paines left me entirely but still in a state of helplessness being reduced to a mer skeleton to my former condition I have met with greate kindness and attention during my illness for which I am very thankfull the Dr pronounced my case Lumbago but I think that it was caused from exposures that I have gone throug for the last twoo years and must have bin Rhumatism the Dr says that I will be able to return to my Barracks in a fiew days then I will wright more fully tell mama that I thought constantly of her during my sickness and that I want to see her worse than any one els lif living Give my respect to all Equireing friends
