Dear Father
this morning I will attempt to awnswer your letter of the tenth of this monthe which came to hand day before yesterday I was very sorry to hear of mamas illness and I hope that when this comes to hand that she may bee entirely well this leaves me enjoying only a reasonable portion of health I have just returned from the hospittal whare I have bin suffering allmost death from the rumatism the Tobaco you sent me came in yesterday and three large sweete Potatos which I was very Glad to recieve allso som calamons thare is no news hear of importance the health of the Prison is very good at this time I am at a loss what to wright this morning So I will close by leaveing my love with you all
