Dear Brother
I have just recieved your letter of the fifteenth of this month and proceed to awnswer the same I am not well. I could not walk twenty yard to day to save my life I have bin afflicted with the Rumatism evry since the twenty sixth of last March I was perfectly helpless for fifteen days in Hospittal I am in Barracks now but not well I was glad to hear that you wer all well and hope tha you may still bee enjoying the same blessing on recept of this letter as to news that is a perfect stranger to the inmates of this Prison you say that you have plowed Ginn this spring and that she woorks splended you must bee very carfull with her I wish that I could bee at home to help you woorke on the farme I am satisfyed that I woould preferr it to the life that I am now living I Recieved my Tobaco the fifteenth of this month I have sold $5 dollars worth in green Backs I will keep the balance you must tell the Girls all of them that they had better get marryed if they get the chance for the Soldiers will hardly ever get home
