Dear Father
Yours of the Eighteenth & twenty fourth of last month came to hand last weeak and I am glad to say found me ejoying the very best of health I hope Theo is well before this I was very sory to hear of the Death of Mr Grant & Dr McCauley. I had not heard from Rufus Felts in a bout a year and was very unneasy about him but I am pleased to learn he is still alive give him and cosen Fanny my Best Respects I recieved my Clothing last friday I got evrything mentioned in your letter Except the hat and Tobaco for them I cannot account unless you got my letter of the eighteent the day you started my Box in that I said to not send me a hat for I have a very good one the Tobaco I now nothing about my cloths fit as well as if I had bin thar except my pants they are about three Inchs too long you are mistaken about my higth I hav not growed a partickle since I left home I am the same in higth and weight as when you saw me last the quality of clothing was not such as I wanted I had rather had Jeanes but I am extreemly well pleased with those you have sent me and will take the very best care of them that I can they are rather fine for such a place as this I never wrote to you last sunday I had not recived a letter the weake before and I wanted to wright to Springfield any way for the presant I must Close
tell mama that I want to see her wors than any one living and hope that I will soon bee at hom
