Dear Father
Yours of the Eighth of this month came to hand the seventeenth I am happy to say to you in awnswer that I am in splendid health the small pox is hear but not so bad as last winter wee hav had four cases in our Barracks only one died you say for mee to come home if I have a chance to take the Oath that is imposible the Oathe never will bee administered untill Exchang takes place and that never will bee untill the end of the ware if you can get up a petition with the propper signatures probaly you could get me out but I can do nothing but remaine hear to the end unless I am aided by some person at home you must see Mr Gardner for mee and Charles Gardner about a box of tobaco tenn lbs to Each he Gardner will wright to his father soon I wante this to Express some Rings you and Mr Gardner mus send us a copardnership Box of tobaco tenn pounds apeace loose and twisted
I will neede some money

my Reciept for tenn dollars when the money mail comes in that will bee in a few days
