Camp Parapet Feb 24th 1863
Dear Sister
I seat myself down to drop you a few lines to let you know that I am well and hope these few lines may will find you the same I commenced a leter to you and did not get it finneshed because I did not know of aney thing to write. we have no drill this morning. it raind last night and made it muddy so that we cant drill Col Clark is come back / to the reg agan Brig Jenral Dowe takes command of the brigade I gues we will move from here soon Clark sent in his resignation but banks would not axcept of it. we have no news from Port Hudson they not ben dowing aney thing much yet they are mighty slow it seems. we have lots of fun with these nut meg regiments they as green as can be. we have a report that stone wall Jackson is comeing to give us a call. he is reported at camp Moore with 30 thousand men. I think it / is all hoqes they know beter than to attack New Orleans. I have Writen all I know or can think of to write.
