                                                                                    Lexington Feb 2th 1864.
 
Dear Sister
                        I will write to you for the forth time and see if I will meat with disapointment again I have writen four letters to you and have had no answer yet the last letter that I sent to you was writen by a comrad of mine in wich he stated that my arm was broke our company was out training our horses on bar back and nothing to giade them with but halters one of the hindmost horses tuck frite and started a head of us and fritent all of the horses and we was left for the worst to come / we was on a high pike road with a deep gulf on one side my horse was right on the edge of the gulf going at full spead and up comes a hors right behind me and pushed me and horse down in the gulf by the road side I got up and walked a quarter of a mile to git to the hospital and have it set I have ben in the hospital ever since I broke it the seventh day of Jan I have taken the splints off long ennought to write this letter it was broke just above the rist on the uper bone it is quite stife now I do not know if I shal use it in / this survis again or not I cannot write much this time my arm pains me so that will have to stop for the present I have told you in my letters that my sachel was in Kalamazoo at John Mckee’s and a company roal record please write to me and let me know if you have got them or not this is very poor writen but I have a broken arm for an excuse I am well with the excpectons of my arm my respects to all at home direct to
