Dear Sister
To day is sunday and I know of no better way to improve the time than to write to you it is a very pleasant day and every thing quite thare is about five thousand soldiers hear if you wer hear and sate whare I do you would think you was alone excepet once in a while you would hear some fellow lagh with a ha-ha-ho.ho—or some niger coming through camp with a right smart pail / of milk but I reckoned it was puty near a water pump so I did not bye I reckon Augusta I received a letter from you yesterday it was dated June the 13th it laid at Louisa some time thare is some more of our boys coming from thare we excpet them to day and I will get some more letters I am very sorrey that I did not get a letter in answer to some that I have writen since we came hear to Lexington and we have been hear twenty days or more so please do write just as soon as you get my letters and oblige your Brother /
Sister I know of no news which would interest you thank cind provedence that our forces are gaining on Richmond every day I hope this summer will put a close to this war I wrote one or two letters to you since the Morgan raid in kentucky in which I told you all about the battles we had &c
I know of nothing more to write this time I can tell you that I am injoying very good helth and hope you at home are haveing the saim blessing so good by for a while
