Dear Sister
                        Your letters of May 24th & June 3rd I received yesterday I did not get a letter from you before in a month let me tell you I was very glad to hear from you Our letters all went to Louisa while we wer out on the march and they wer sent to us we got them yesterday some of the boys got quite a pile of them thare is nothing does a Soldier / so much good as to get mail from home and friends so you can imagain what a time thare was when this mail came
 
Dear Sister I have writen two or three letters to you since we caime hear and we have been hear sixteen days I have had no answer to any of the letters that I wrote from hear. we shall perhaps stay hear quite a while for our things are ordered hear for us we have been out some six weeks without tents we lay right on the ground if it rains why we get weat and stay so until the sun shines so that we can dry again / we had a nice little shour hear to day I got somewhat weat but am allmost dry now this sheat of paper is a little damp now I shall feel more like home when we get our tents if they are but dog tents they are better than nothing to live in our would be champion John Morgan has left us for good he fooled himself when he came into Kentucky he and his band are no soldiers they are nothing but a set of horse theafs I don’t want him to come in our way again for I do not want to go on another such march as we had after him he will / run and never fight unless he gets conered and pick on every little squad of our soldiers that come in his way it takes about tenn or eleven of his men to whip one of ours now I will close with the hopes of hearing from you as soon as you get this I am injoying good helth at present
