Dear Sister
I will now endeavore to write a few lines to you in answer to your cind and welcome litter which I recived to day and bearing date of June 24th It found me well and in fine spirets and I was very glad to here that you were the same. I found a good deal of fun in your letter and quite chearing. I have had two letters from 130 or Em and I cannot believe otherwise from what you say of her. I know very / well that the one you speake of cant shine I am not in the least afraid of that but I dont think it right in aney young girl to have more than one at a time its like chewing Tobaco and eating Sugar at once. I have very good reasons to believe that she coresponds with sevral other soldiers and they perhaps think they have as good a right as aney one. I have told her that if she wished to keep open corespondance with me she would haft quit that. I wont court more than one girl at a time for I think one is enough when you get tired of her let go the hawser. / but enough of this stuff fore once. But what makes you think that ring streightens all. I cant see it.
I gues that it will be streightend in time she is young and will probaly haft to learn a little yet She is of the age when all young girls should be most carefull of themselves.
I dont think I shall nead that god almighty coat to make a jacket of it is plenty warme enough with out aney they can be dispenced with here.
About Senna Wade I know all about what you said of her when I was at home and as much more as you can tell me all I want to.
We have ben moveing / some since I wrote to you before from Port Hudson we went to Morganza then here we are having prety good times here not much to do and better living than we had below. I like it much better here. I have had a letter from Wm a short time ago he was well had ben in some fighting with Morgans raiders in Ky. I would like to have all of your pictures as n soon as you can get them. I have lost the reciete of the money I sent home last. Theadore and I are getting ancious to here from it. but as my sheat is getting nearly filled I must close hopeing this will find you all well.
The a Frank sends their best respects
Ever your Affectionate brother J. B. Bartell
