Dear Sister
your kind letter of the 10th inst. came to hand yesterday afternoon and glad I was to hear that you was well as to my helth it is good never was better I waigh more than ever I did and I am injoying myself as well as circumstances will admit the wether is very fine hear at present it is just about like your may weather winter is about played out hear thare is a little rain now and then but it don’t last over a day well Sister I heardly know what to write thare / is nothing of acount going on hear in this one horse town. O yes but hold on it is said that we leave hear in a few days how true it is or whare we are going I cannot say perhaps to Nashville Tennessee if not to South Carolina Nevertheless it maters but little to me any whare Whare we can do good and end this infernal war you nead not write to me again until you hear from me again it will be but a short time and I can pass a little time without hearing from you and our Dear parrents knowing that you are well and geting along fine you nead not fear about me / I have passed through so much and I think I can go so much more if some rebel bullit don’t stop me but I don’t think that will be the case for they have cut my cloths and came so near my head that they could not come closer without cuting me but this is foolish talk we cannot tell what is before us Nevertheless we will have to let it go as it will. I will tell you once more that I got your photograph and think it is very good I allso got that young Almanac which was in your last letter now I will close hopen this finds you well Give my best respects to all inquiren friends and love to those at home / and John when you write to him I have writen to him since I got a letter from him so good by for the present from your affectionate Brother Sergt Bartell
