Dear Sister
I heardly have time to write to you but Ill write enough to let you know that I am well and alive Our Reg arived hear day before yesterday and we leave hear for Strawberrey Planes tomorrow we got a new set of horses at Louisville Ky and got our sadles hear I suppos we will be on the move all summer thare is no rest for a bold Cavelier if I was like John in som Arttilrey I could stop at one / place for a while I wonder how many more horses I will have to ride down before the war is over. now let me tell you that I am well and I beg you will excuse this poor writen I am in a dog tent a very bad place to write it has rained all night so thare is nothing but mud mud if Gen Lee makes his way into East Tennessee thare will be some heavy fighting and our Regament will have a hand in give my love to home and respects to all friends / and now Sister good by write as soon as you get this from your
