Martha Ferguson
Martha Ferguson (maiden name: Bryant) was born around 1839 in Indiana to George Bryant. She married Cyrus E. Ferguson on April 2, 1857, and they had at least three children: William, born around 1857; Fanny, born around 1860; Grace, born around 1864. They lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and her husband worked as a painter. By 1870, they owned $1,500 of real estate and $1,000 of personal property. They moved to Chicago, Illinois, in the late 1800s, and by 1900, she was living in her daughter Grace’s household there. Her husband died on July 21, 1918. She applied for a federal pension later that week and eventually secured one. She died in Blue Island, Illinois, on February 20, 1919.
