To morrow has been set apart by the President of the Confederate States as a day of fasting, humiliation and prayer. The soldiers of this command are earnestly enjoined to a strict observance of it, and all military duties as far as practicable will be suspended.
Let us meet together in worship & humble ourselves before the Almighty God acknowledging His Providential aid in the conflicts of the past campaigns, & invoking His presence & favor for the future. Ask that He will nerve our hearts & strengthen our arms for the dangers yet to be encounterd—that He will give us greater loftier courage in the presence of our enemies, & a grand heroic endurance of the hardships of the march & the privations of camp life—that He will strengthen the hearts of the desponding at home and subdue the spirits of our foe / speedily to the end that peace may once more abide in the land and we be enabled to return to our happy homes. when our independence By order of shall have been secured and our
