wife why is it that you do not write to me I have writen several letters to you and have received no answer as yet neither have I received a letter from any one while in camp I begin to think I have no friends I have looked day after day and at night and no letter the boys all get letters but me you can hardly imagin how anxious I ame to heare from you all this time in Camp and no letter from my family we have got a postoffice in our Regiment the maile comes in evry / eavning I must confess that I feele rather down hearted this eavning as I expected to heare from you often. in the morning whitch is sunday we we strike our tents and march on five mile farther direct your letters to

Kentucky tell Will Furgason to write to me let me know how you are geting along and what you think about that ugly picture Oh how I woulde like to see little Catharine & Ella and I might just as well say sam and Will and Malvina / tell Levi Dever to tell James Smith Editor of the Bluffton Banner to send me his paper let him hande this little slip of paper to the Editor Smith I have been in this Camp 10 days and have not been out of it only on drill we are close to the town and I have not been in it while here Will Buckles cooks for James Gorden and me a greate many of the Boys are sick I ame stout ande hearty Gorden and my selfe got a straw tick made and we sleepe on it and we fare first rate for camp life
