                                                                                                Dear wife as Tony Philips
is going to start home in a few minuits I set down to write you a few hasty liens to let you know that I ame well and hope you are all enjoying the same Blessing Malvina I met with bad luck a few nights ago I had my pants stole at night when I was asleepe they wer laying close by my heade and the money I had was in my pockets betwen forty and fifty dollars my pants wer new I had just paide eight dollars for them the money I had was borrowed money consequently I will have to borrow more it is no use freting about spilt milk so let it go two months pay is due us at this time but when we will get paid I do not know. if you have not paide for that land do not untill you heare from me probaly you have ere this Reaches you Received a letter that I have writen to you a few days ago in whitch I sent five dollars I wish I had sent more then I woulde not have had it stolen Billy Buckles also had his pants and money stole at the same time in future we will be more carefull /
 
the health of our Boys is improving very mutch Philips is discharged Sharp Wisner is very poorly and has resigned and is going home in a few days when he goes I shal write to you again Sharp cannot stand this Climate if he does not soon get away from here he will die I ame just going to town to try and get his papers so that he can go home I have not Received any letters from you since I last wrote to you but hope one will soon come to hand do write your ever most affectionate husband
