                                                                                                            My dear wife yours
of the seventh of this month came to hand last eavning I ame glad to learn you are all well it has been a long time since I have hearde from you before last eavning I presume ere this reaches you will have received my letters I sent by hand we have received no pay as yet and do not know how long it will be untill we do get paide off I hope it will be soon. Malvina be as saven of your money as you can but live well do not spend any unnecessarily. I think it a poor Idea sending the Boys to Wayne alone but I hope they will get Back safe again have your winters wood hauled up amediately and corded up at the house get dry sugar or hickry if you cannot get that kinde do the best you can get some one to buy it for you get twenty or thirty corde Oh Lorde but I wish I was at home. of late I almost get the Blues but its all of no use freting since I have been in the service I have drawed nearly nine hundred dollar and all that is left is with you I live as saving as I can I have got / evry thing to buy I use and it is very high here I have got to hire my cooking and washing done Goverment furnishes me nothing I endeavor to save evry cent I can I presume you have learnt that have been unfortunate in having some money stole from me and also a new pair pants I ame going to try and never have the like occur again your last letter is the best letter I have received from you that is gives me more perticulars why donte you always write more how the fruit trees are and garden and what kinde of fruit. had you any aples any pears any peaches any garden is my shade trees alive who stays with you and have you a prety good crop of weeds who cuts the weeds down how does the olde chain pump do Henry Shnatterly is going home I send this letter by him he is discharged as he is not fit for service. my health is good I hope you are all well I ame yet seting on the Court Martial down in town I ame tiard of it do write
