Helena Arkansas Sept 22the 1862
Dear Malvina
as the mail did not go out yesterday I thought I woulde write you a few more to day I have just come from town as I ame yet on that Court Martial I have been evry day in town for one weeke but hope we will get through this week we have good news here to day that our Army is whiping the Rebels in Virginia it is reported that the Rebels are coming to atack us at this point I hope it is so for I want to do my share of fighting and go home and not be laying around doing nothing for that will never close the war there is no telling at present what great changes may take place in / one monthe from this time Melvina I am geting very anxious to heare from you why do you not write. the more I write to you it appears the fewer letters I get from you you do not write how your eye is getting I presume it is well I hope so I have not received but one letter from you in several weeks the Bluffton boys are all well as I have nothing more to write about I will close hoping soon to heare from you be carefull of the children do not let them be eating green trash I ame very carefull about what I eat and I atribute that as being reason I have good health there is very few men in the Regiment but what have been sick yours
