My Deaar
                        wife I set down to write you a few hasty liens hoping you are all well we are just packing up to leave here wher we are going I do not know but down the River some wher it is at this time about sundown we get aboard the Boat some time to night we only got the word that we was going about one hour ago no pay yet tell Oliver Karnes wife that he is going with the Regiment direct your letters as you have been doing they will follow us up direct Helena Arkansas. I would write more but I have not got time I have got my / Trunk packed and I must see that the Boys are all ready. this is the first time since in the Army that I felt sorry when we wer going to March my heart is with you
