Dear Malvina
I this Sunday morning set down to write you a few liens although it is but two days since I wrote to you and at the same time I sent you one Hundred Dollars we sent our Money to Huntington by a man who was going there and he will Express it to Fort Wayne in Care Daniel Gregg I presume it will be in Wayne by the time this letter leaves here. I kept some over one Hundred my selfe as I do not want to get out of Money again the Paymaster says he will pay us again in a week or so I hope so as there is four Months pay due us in one week from this time but I have no confidence in Paymasters words. I have made application for leave of absenc for thirty days I have made the papers out they have got to go to the City of Washington if I have good luck they will get back again the midle of April and then I am off for Home if my Request is granted I can stay at Home two or three weeks and it will be just the time I want to be at Home as I can attend to our Garden and Fruit Trees and it may be we will get paid again that time and then I can carry my own Money Home Colonel Slack gave me a strong Recommendation for leave of absence and I think I will get it if not I shall try another plan / that I know will sucseed in geting Home it will take me at least six days to get Home from here and if we should go farther down the River it would still take longer time but I will do the best I can.
