Dear Malvina
as there is an oportunity of sending a few liens up the River I thought I would inform you I ame well the Boys are all well also olde Billy is well tell his Brother John we are at this time steaming slowly down the Colde Water we think we will get in the Talahatchie River to day there is quite a fleet with us. nearly all the Boats are more or less injured by Running in the brush and again trees as the channel is so verry narrow I have not Received a letter from you since we left Helena and this is the tenth day since we left the mail has just arrived but has not been distribuited as yet when it is I expect to get a letter from you we are at this time not more than fifty mile from Helena. Rest assured I will write to you when ever I can get an opportunity to do so. but I feare in a few days the chances will not be very good for geting letters up the River but do not be uneasy if you should not heare from me for a few days I will not write more at present as the Boat is running along at sutch / a Rate. I hope you are all well and doing well my love to you all
