Deare Malvina
Just as I finished them few liens yesterday we wer ordered to march to Vicksburg and we are at present within two miles of the City and there is a continuous fire of Artilery and Rifles on each side and we our men are so mutch acustomed to it that they do not pay any attention to it unless they are amediately under the fire. the city is a harde place to get and it is Rather douptfull when we will get in the place but we will have the place certain sooner or later and it may be in a few days. my health is good although we have hard times we have to sleepe out in / open air of nights we have seen harde times of late but I hope to see better days so good by deare one
