Camp Neare Ibera Louisiana October 7th 1863
 
            My deare
                                    wife we are on the March to Texas and have halted at this place for two days and the mail is going out in a few Minuits I have just ascertained that a letter could be taken back this minuite for feare I cannot send one soon again I must write you a few liens my health is reasonable good at present I hope you are all well we left Berwick on so short a notice that I could not write before leaving I expressed you two hundred and twenty dollars the morning I left I will write to you evry oportunity direct your letters as you have been doing untill further notice from me for the Lord only knows wher we will stop the weather is beautifull and the Roads are fine this is a rich Country so far Boats still come to wher we are Camped I would like to write more but have not the time to do so this time write often I will get your letters when we get through the health of the Company is good my love to you all
