                                    Deare wife I send you a few hasty liens hoping they may finde you getting well and the Children all well as for my Selfe my health is good except I have the Newraglio in my neck at present as I used to have some times while in Minessota but I will be well of it in a few days we are travling Slowly back towards the Missisipi River again how long we will lay at this Village I do not know the Rebels are prowling around us day and night they took one of my Boys a Prisoner yesterday as he was geting Wood Close to Camp his name is William Manning they also at the Same time / and place took Harrison Craig olde Mr Craigs Boy I write those few liens in a hurry so as to Send them by a man who is going to New Orleans I will write again the first opportunity I get of Sending a letter off the Man is ready to go and I must quit writing the Boys are all well from Wells County
