Duvalls Bluff Arkansas Nov 15th 1864

            Dear Wife
yours of the 30th of October is at hand I am very glad to heare you are all well but Sory to learn the Scarlet Fever is so neare you I feare very mutch the children will get it as it is said to be a very contagious disease but I hope sutch will not be the case. we landed at this place on yesterday we have just finished a chimney to our Tent the last I hope I will have to builde while in the Service the Boys are buisy puting up Shantys again but there is no telling how long we will have to remain here we may move again in two days from this time. but in Fifteen days from this day I expect to be geting ready to Start Home probaly by the time this letter reaches you. I received a letter from Harter last Eavning they are well Brother William has quit wrighting to me Harter wrote me a good letter sutch a letter as I like to get from a friend. I wrote to your Father last Summer but I never got any reply Govenor Morton is Elected and I am glad of and McClel McClellen ought to be beate also and any other Man who would be suported by or nominated by traitors although you say Hurah for Mc in your letter and do as you please about that those Scoundrels who are on trial at Indianapolis wanted to get up a war in the Northe and come very neare doing it but they are Saints and Martyers acording to the logic of the Sons of liberty I thought for a while I would / if I had an oportunity I would vote for Mc but the way the Scoundrels are cuting up who Suport him I could not do so I am no admier of olde Abe either, but who ever is Elected is the man who I will Stand by foure more years who ever the people Elect must rule we have not as yet hearde any news how the Election has resulted but I am as confident as I am alive that Mc will be badly beaten

Enough of sutch things I do not say Hurah for any man I am for my God and Country you say you are very tiard and lonesome keeping House alone. well just holde on a few days longer and I will helpe you keep House and one thing an another. I am about as tiard of soldiering as you are keeping House alone as you terme it. I guess maney persons at Home think to be a Soldier is nothing but Sport and a fast way making Money let let all sutch try it. it is an awfull life and a harde way to make Money as I have found out by Sad experience I expect I will not have a Dollar in Money when I get Home but I will get what is Due me betwen this and Spring as soon as I settle up with the Goverment I can do that by letters when I get Home I mean by wrighting to Washington I will close for this time yours truly and affectionately
