Memphis Tennessee December 4th 1864
Dear Wife
I once more Seate my Selfe for the purpose of wrighting you a few hasty liens hoping you are all well yesterday I received two letters from you one of them had two Dollars in I was glad to get it but if I thought you could not Spare it I would rather you had kept it I consider it one of the best letters you have ever writen to me while in the Service but I will not say anything about the other I wrote you a letter from this place a few days since I received your last letter just as soon as I arived here dated the 21st of last month I do not expect to receive any more from you well Malvina I will have to stay here untill the 12 of this Monthe then we are going to start for Home they are going to keep us untill our time is up and I expect to go Home without any Money but I hope soon to get paide off after geting Home I am thankfull I can get Home Sound and well if nothing Serious hapens I will be at Home any how again the 20th of this Month I expect to go by the way of Indianapolis you may rest asured I will not delay on the Roade to day is Sunday next Sunday I expect to pack up to leave on Tuesday as we will be Mustered out on Monday we can go to Indianapolis in three days from this place probaly we will be detained there one day I hope not / you must not think I am staying here with my own acorde for I want to get Home as soon as I can but a few more days and then I am a free Man again it is going on five years I have served in the Army enough for one Man the 10 of this Month I will be 39 years old Greate Heavens then I will be in my 40th year old Sam Keller well I cant helpe it time waits for no man and I am prety well used up as the Saying is thes three years in the Service have tolde on me Severely although I am a prety good Man yet I will stop for this time yours most Affectionately
