Frank I am so weak that cant write much now no one knowes north how much the armys suffer here I cant discribe it to you now it is to horrible I recved your letters & paper to Day I was glad to here from you that you was well & the rest of the folkes I had the ship ratch or itch it struck back in and went to my head for three Day no wone to look to fore Every one fore him self here now I am most well as ever now I am very week yet no humon person knows how we suffered Board that vesil we are on the old Battle ground in camp now at the lower end of the city all cind of beings here in this city and all kinds of discriptions to numous to mention Frank I have wrote five letters to you sence I started on the vesil to you I send you the neworleans paper Every weak while I stay here I have got twenty Dollars I will cend to you now if I Dare resk it I Dont know whether it twould Be safe or not I cant write mutch every thing is high here But I shant suffer here on shore for Eny thing to make me comphable as long as I have got mony enough to git it with I have got fifty Dollars now and looking fore more Every Day this war is all A humbug and speckalation nothing Else and one that dont have A hand in it is A fool january 13 1863 A fiew more words to you the mail stemer sailes the 17 for Newyork I will send $10 Dolars by express to you Directed by clark Lewis I will see whither that gits home safe for theare is pirate vesils watching for theas mail vesils witch run to newyork git what you want of it I put fifty cents in this letter for you
 
Frank we are in the worst city in the world for all cind of murde and robery is going on every day Company A, B, C. are together yet we aint Ben with the rigment sence we left Baltimore and I dont know as we shall make mary A Delias Boy a nise present for me Shee Dont think A nough of me to write to me Frank Be A good Boy have A mind of your owen for advise ask Mr Lewis he will tell you what is write fore you to Do my love to all
