Camp              Febuary 5 1863
 
Frank it is A losome day to me I thought I write A fiew lines to pass the time away we had marching orders tha send the other day But that was countermanded So we dont know how long we shall stay here like A nought four weeks and may not be A week we cant tell one day A head the talk is that we are going to texas to take A salt spring witch the Rebels hold tha have A strong forse thear tha say But cornel smith is working hard for his Rigement to stay on this rode he dos all he can to ceap his the 114th from Eny Battle he is tring hard to git the whole charge of this rode if he dos we shall stay here some time’s hope he will succede for we dont have it harde here
 
Febuary 7th we had A cold night it frose ise thick as A nife Blade. the timber here is mostly cyprus and live oak covered with moos witch hangs all over the tree from one foot to ten feet long it looks nise on the live oak it hangs down like the weaping willow Some orange trees here to that is prity much all of the wood kind 6 o’clock no letters yet some of the Boys just got some I Begin to think I shant git eny more that all Frank you will find fifty cents in this
