Frank I feel vary lonsom to day and to pass A way the time I write A fiew lines to you it seems tho I was A talking with you But tho it is on paper I hope the time will come when we can talk fase to fase like a noughf that never will Be a gain But I think not I will Be in old chenango once more if one is sick hear he fairs hard tha show no mercy on no one if he dies it is all the same and if he lives it the same I have got uster to it so it dont trouble me eny when I see one dead I walk away and think nothing A boutit for it ma Be me next I cant tell I calculate to live what time I am here as long as I can git mony to live on. thear cant one out of tenn that has got Eny mony in our company I have lent some lik A noughf I shall want it before we git our pay But I have got some yet left my expenses, 10 cents for tabacker a day, 5 cents for a pear of drawers 5 cents for a pear of stockings 10 cents for A pear of pantaloons I have paid that every week sence I started from home I aint warshed nothing sence I started from home nor I wount as long as I have got mony also 10 cents A piece to put in pocketts in my shirts what is the use to Be saving and starve yourself most to death and suffer everything But death and die at last I am not the one to do that I am A gonter live what time I am hear and then suffer A noughf I am vary sory I cant hear from you eny oftner you dont know how Bad I feel A boutett I write three letters A week to you so you will git one sune as for the war we dont know as mutch as you do thear we cant git the news from vixburg in two weeks after you git them till the newyork papers gits here and it from ten to twelve days to git hear then we solgears git A word some times all I git is from the is from the paper I send you I write you on the 11 Day of march and sent you to papers the vesil saild on the 15 for newyork with the mail on it. tha expect A mail vesil in tomorrow I hope I shall git A letter from you also mary A. Delia if I dont it will Be couris I would not wrote this But I felt lonesom and Down harted thear is times when I as lives die as not But I wanter see you all once more and no one cant till how a person suffers in the army till he tri it you cant immagin nothing A bout it good By to all                 Asa Holmes
