Frank I have got A fiew moments time to write to you now my health is good now I don’t know how long it will Be so for tha are well one day and taken sick the next day and go to the hospatle A grate meny from the 114 Reg have Ben sent to the neworleans hospatle those that was left at fort monroe haint got to the regement yet tha are now at the quirintene station Below neworleans yet whear we staid so long tha come on A vesil that had small pox on Board tha have Benn thear five weeks I dont know But longer one of them has died sence he was left thear it is very still times hear to day I dont know how long it will last the mud has dride oup and it is vary pleasent hear now we have not heard from vixburg in A fortnight thear must be something in the wind tha keep it still thear must Be some Big planning going on I think we will find out Bimby when we have orders to march Again I dont care how quick I have Benn hear long A nuff. Frank thear is one thing you must look to if I should be taken away or git kild thear is three months pay due me now and the seventy five dollars from the government dont let them cheat you out of that I have got some mony yet it take A good deal to ceap comfrafble how everything is high I have got A oriange cain I cut from the tree on the old Battle ground Below neworleans whear we was in camp three weeks if I can git it home with me I would not take ten dollars for it, for it come from the old spot whear jackson fought the Britshes in the last war and whipt them so the old tavern house stands thear now old fashing A nough the monument stand thear is A nice on in Remembrance of jackson it is A bout forty rods from the old tavern and A bout the same distance from the bank of the river I have seen A grate deal sence I left home and proberly I shall see more if I have good luck I hope we shall go oup the missipey when we come home then I will have A chance to see the country that way I think we will I have got all of my travels in my head. I will close now cald on duty write oft no mail to day tha say we will git one tomorrow I would like to know how Jonas likes the draft now witch the presedent has cald for six hundred thousand more men for the army this spring it will call loud for him and A grate meny more in that section I hope tha will have A trial of it. it will try thear three hundred Dollars hard to save them and git A substitute to. how dos E church feel sence he was married dose he feel like A cut snake I would like to know Bye Asa Holmes
