Frank I have not yet got much news to write this morning the steam Boat Came down this morning she only Brought two wounded and one of them died Before she got hear. oup to last night thear has not But four or five Benn kild and some wounded I dont know how meny. the army is moving on slowerly driveing the Rebels Back our army is marching for the salt works to take that that is A bout thirty miles from hear tha have got half way thear last night thear is A Bout 100 hundred Bagage wageons yet to go on to day and A bought 300 horses also to go to day / I feel pirty well this morning I hope you do to. our lieutenant left hear this morning for the Regement he thinks he is well enough to stand it he left me in charge of the tents hear I have got A good tent that I am in / I will write this arfternoon some more                     Asa

general weartzil Brigade fought four ours yeasturday Before the Rebels Retreted the 114 Regt is in this Brigade thar wasent But three kild did not learn how meny was wounded. thear was not But three wounded in the 114 Regt I aint learnt thear names yet / general Emorres Brigade witch fought them in A diferance diretion had more kild and wounded But it was small I aint learnt how meny the Rebels had kild. tha are giving the Rebels fits now as tha go tha make them fly to the cat hole. Banks makes A clean seep as he goes now general wertzil is A Brave man his solgears like him he has the full comand of the army on the march he knowes every plase and spot in louisania he was Born hear and Broutoup hear he has survaid all oup whear tha are going now            Asa Holmes
