No news from the army this morning I feel puty weak this morning I have Benn Round the depo till I have got puty tieard seeing the Rebel prisnors start for Neworleans tha are A Raged set of Beings. and to see the wounded that came down last night it is to Bad to write mostley of them are from the 75 Regtt. Ny. S.V. that Regement was cut to peacis puty Bad. I will write as I git the news the Report is that our army had taken the salt works last night But nothing certain tha aint Ben no Boat down to day the news is hear to day that vixburg was taken and also Charleston I hope it is so 6 oclock nothing of eny importance from the army to day the Boat ma Be down in the night I think. April 18th. good morning Frank I hope your are well I feel vary well this morning I got your letter last night and also A paper that had mothers death in it / I have not got Mary A. Delia yet I think I shall it will come Round Bimby I was glad to hear from you all. you wrote for some mony to Buy you A gun with I am wiling you should have A gun But you must Be vary carful how you use it and shoote no one with it nor your self you must tell Mr Lewis to let you have the mony to git it with that I sa so I have not got my pay yet and I dont know when I shall git it it is four months sence I Received Eny mony from the goverment and I am puty short for mony gest now I aint Benn well A noughf to git Eny for A time Back ma Be I will have good luck Be fore long to git some. in loading the gun you must Be vary carful and when you put the cap on you must have some one show you how to load and shoote did you git that letter it had the mony in it for your Birth Days preasent Asa Holmes
