April 20th A boat came down in the night with A Bout thirty wounded mostley of them wear caverlymen & artillarymen & Baterymen I have gest heard from our Regement thear was onley one kild in our Regement & 30 wounded mostley of them slitely. the Regement is 82 miles from hear now. 4 oclock, no news non I can Relion Frank I feel vary well to day onley I vary weak I cant hardley git round I cant tell how I shall feel to morrow. you must Be careful of your self and not go in swiming to much this summer onley to wash you mus not go in the warter when your hot  Asa Holmes
 
six oclock nothing from the army dont heare how the wounded git A long nor who was wounded tha ceap it vary clost yet I shall Learn the perticklears Before I write A gain. it has Benn A sad day for me I aint felt so down harted Before since I have Ben in the army as I have to Day I am lonsom Away from the army good buy to all         Asa Holmes
