Brashear City, Camp Reno April 26, 1863
Frank I am A Bout the same as I have Benn for three or four days Back. part of the Regt got back to day comp F & H tha brought with them 150 prisnors tha are A hard looking lot of prisnors the Rest of the Regt will Be hear within two or three days tha hafter come slow with the cattle tha have got 2500 head of cattle with them. Col Smith is hear he came last night he ses Capt D H Curtis is A vary sick man it is vary doubtful whither he gits well tha Bring him five or six miles A day in A cairage tha say he wants to come Back with his company so tha git him A long By degrees. Lieutenant Stafford stand its good he is A Brave officer tha say he took it vary cool the Balls fling A Round his head made no difference with him. wall Frank I have ben walking A round to view the prisoners tha look down harted some of them some are lively feel good. But oh you had ourter see the cotten & sugar & molases tha are onloading hear from the steam Boats the vary nisis kind of sugar & molasis the cotten looks vary nice to if I had what has Benn onloaded hear to day tha might go to hell with the war for all me tha have got A Bout onloded and Ready to start Back after Another. one can learn & see A grate deal to the depo you see all cind of Beings & all kind of language, English, Dutch, french, spanish, irish, and god onley what else for I dont Elisa ann & Frank I have just got two letters from you tha came to night one was datid March 19th & the other April 8th was glad to hear from you and Frank. I hope you will git all my letters I write in the month of April I think this is the tenn of them and Frank you must ceap them all I shall write one more this week I expect A letter from horis Mcguyre every day he sead he would write & lett me know how he gits A long I am A fraid he will have A Bad foot of it whear he was wounded it is vary sickley hear with the tifoid fever tha hardley git well well tha brot oup on the cars to night 100 hundred coffins from neworleans write every week I must close & take this to the mail bag Oh, Elder calahan was hear to night to see me and took tea with me he ses he will call in the morning again he is A nise man and A good man if he is A preacher I wish you all well and good luck to all & good eving to all Asa Holmes
