tuw miles this side we had to land hear on the acount of the Rebels Burning thear gun Boat & sunk it to prevent our Boats A giting Buy. the steam Boat could not git Buy so we had to on load hear I suppose we march oup to day. we are sixty miles from Brashear City now we lay on the ground last night with our we Blankets over ous we aint got no tents with ous we hafter take the open fields for login. I wrote you a fiew lines jest as I started the Boat was wayting when I wrote. I also wrote to clark lewis a few lines and put my check in A letter and sent it to him the check was $16.00 I did not git it fifteen minutes Before I started wall as for my health I feel vary well this morning considering all things it is A splendid country oup though hear it is higher ground hear Buy A grate deal tha say hear it is puty healthy part of the country. Frank the Big Battle was fought Between patersonvill and Bisland thear the Rebels was strongley fortifide tha thought we could not drive them out of thear Rifle pits and entrencments tha extended on each side of the River Back to the woods one mile on Each side. the next plase is centervill that is A nise little plase. the next plase is franklin that is the county seat A vary puty plase it is to the court house is A nise one I tell you, new Iberia is A fine plase thear we to stop A spell it may not Be two days and it may four weeks we hafter when cald on if it is midnight it dont make Eny diferance I am so glad of one thing we are gitting whear it is more healthie on higher ground and more freash are we hafter Be stasion oup through heare to gard Against the gurrillaes whitch infest this Rout to Texas thear puty larrrge bands of them tha pick of our pickets gards now once A while whitch is station near franklin. wall Frank I shall see A grate deal Buy the time I Reach oxford that is if I ever do I cant tell god onley knows whither I shall or not I shall stick to the Regement as long as I can move I am on the gain now puty fast if I dont take cold on this move I am exposed to all kind of weather But I shall Be vary careful of my self now health is everything now hear placed as I am I dont know when you will git this letter it has got to go to Brashear City Buy chance good Buy to all
