Frank I must write A fiew lines to you to inform you my health is not good I am puty miserble now I am complety worn out it is four weeks sence we got hear I shante write no perticklears now for it would make you feel Bad. the army makes A nother A tack on the fort to morrow morning thear will Be A grate meny kild & wounded on that day it ma Be me if it is you tell the folks at home your farther died on the Battle field A Brave solger & for the union. I dont think / Eny thing A Bout marching oup to the Brest works I have Benn hear so long in it I have Ben hear four weeks now whear the Balls & shells fall all A Round all the time But it looks hard to march oup in the face of the Enemy whear thear canons are pontid at you A long line of them on thear Brest works I feel so Bad to Day A Bout you & mary A. Delia that I shant see you Eny more that I shall lay my Bones at port Hudson and the Batle field I have seen them lay dead & wound on the field for three Days Before caried off it ma Be so with me I hope not Bee good Childern Asa Holmes
