New Orleans December 15/62
Dear Mother
I now seat my self to inform you that I ame in new Orleans on boar the Ship we left long Island Tusday the 2 marhed to Brukline then we crossed the river to New York we got on board that night the name of our Ship is the Northen Light and there is an orther Regt on board beside Ours which makes it Croudet I have ben sea sick but I feel purty well now I dow not how long we will be on board but I think we will get off in two or thre days we left New york Thursday the 4 at 5 Oclock A.M and sailed ontill last night whare she cast anker in frunt of New Orlens I do not know ware / we will gow but I cane tell you more about it when I write agen I did thin I would wate ontill we got landed some ware bfor I wrote but I thought you would like to here from me I reseaved your letter day before yestarday and was glad to here that you are well it has ben plesant coming up the Missippea as we could see the Orgenges grow along bouth sids of the river and yestard being Sunday we could see the Negrows working on the plantation some eatting suger cane and some drowing it in to the mills the mills ware all in opration we did not sail all the time or we mite have ben here sooner no more at presant but remember

Dear Uncle & Aunt
I reseaved your letter the 13 at Ship Island I thought I would write a few lines to let you know whare a bouts I ame I was glad to here from you I have ben sea sick but I ame well now but you know it makes any one weak I try to take as good care of my self as I cane it is a warm Country out here and I sopose it is vary cold by this time where you live I cane not think of any thing that would be intresting to you to day I will write gen as soon as we get landed some ware no more at presan but romember Your Nephew Billm /
Dear Aunt will you give me some of your Brothers directions or Sisters in Philadelphia I mite come Back that way and Oblig your nephew
