Dear Mother
                        I now seat mi self to let you know that I am well I am helping to take care of the sick I am kept very buisy but I like it better then marching. the Ward Master wants me to take charge of a ward if I do I ma stay here some time. the weather is very fine here the Fire Men had a great time here yestarday. Mi Regiment is at Mobile Bay. I have not had a letter in a long time I gess thay expect me back to the Regt and thay do not send mi letters no more at presant from your son William
