Dear unkle & aunt i have the pleasure of siting Down this evening to inform you that we are Weell at present and hoping that these few lines may find you Enjoying the same Blesing father recieved your letter last week and it gave them much Sadifaction to heare that you was all weell and a doing weell i was to town when your letter came and i tock it to father and heard all that was in it and i am glad to heare that your are a Doing Well and as you say that John isent a Doing much i wish he would go to Worke and earn that money that he owes me for that mare he never paid me a cent for her he gave me a note on a nother man and it couldent Be colected But he Backed it But i Dont expect it is eigheny Bater of that But i gess i can get a long with out it if he Dont want to pay it i think i can Buy and sell him with out he has gained him Mity fast since i saw him last for i am worth a Be twixt elleven and twelve hundred Dollars and if you dont Believe this com and se and if you arnt convinced of it i Will pay the Damages i have 4 hed of horses a gest a Bout as god as you General come a cross i have tow that i can get 250 dollars for them / eigheny Day and i have a 2 year olde coalt that i can get 85 dollars for him and my other one no money could Buy him for he has Bin my main Stand By he tended the first crop that i eve raised i have 9 head of cattl and 14 head of hogs i a killed 8 head of hogs and they averedg 200 pou clean i raised a Bout 1200 hundred bushels of corn this last year and other Grain in porpotion with the excepton wheat it But light i Didint have But 50 Bushells i have 16 acors of wheat sowed and it lookes very well now But i Dont no how it will Be for it is verr cold her now and very hard on wheat now at this time i am a going to farm Be twixt 40 and 50 acors of corn next spring i have a share of a Separator thrasing may shine we maid from 40 to 60 dollars a weeke last fall with it and Grain was very poor at that and you stated in your letter that you wanted to no where my land was it is in putnam co ohio a bout 100 hundred miles from here and is as good as eigheny of your river Botoms there it lays a long the oglaze river 11/2 mile from toun where there is a rail road and canall Boath the farm gining it from 80 to 100 hundred Bushells of corn to the acor i have Got it all payed for i paid it Down when i Bought it / i am a thinking of going to it next fall But i Dont no whether i will or not father talks a Bout going there to chambers Johns has got 40 acors there gining mine i would say to you and all the rest of my friends to leave that country for i no that you could Do Beter a man can make $20 in this country where he can maike $1 there and there places Beter than this But i am very well sadified this country for i can maike money here nearly as i please I had hard crabling to maike a start But now i have got a start and is a Doing well with it i expect to Buy more land nex fall if have no Bad luck corn is worth 50 cts the hiest price that ever was he at this season of the year Wheat 1,60 cts per bushel ry 100 Barley 105 pe bushel oats 35 & 40 cts pr bus potatoes 150 aples 1,50 per Bushel i have bout 30 bushels of aplle apples yet i Go to columbus market onst a weeke now i was there last weeke and sold aples 150 per Bushe cabitch 10 cts a head i raised a bout 500 hundred heas of cabitch last year every thing is high here flour is 8 Dollars per Barrel and other things in porpotion money is plentyer than it was i live a Bout 21/2 miles from fathers i havent sen them since they was all well then and a Doing well father Dont worke at his traid much eigheny more he would soner plow than worke at his / traid and i would to for he can maike more at it than he can at his traid Grand mother Johns is still living yet and is Tolerable Smart yet M C Johns folks is all well & thomases folks is all well our litle girl is a Begining to stand a lone and she is 8 months the 15 of this month her name is Sary Sarah abegal that is after Boath of he grand Mothers N B Answer this letter as son as it comes to hand nothing more at present But Still remains your afectionate nephew and nece untill Death We Boath send our Best respects to you and all the inquiring friend Write how Grand father is and mother is i have wote them three letters and never got an answer
