Dear parents i reseave ed your kind letter and was glad to here from you and to here that you was well we are all well at present except Thomas he has a bad cold but it is a getting better we halve had some snow here it is about 4 inches deep and is very cold now but we halve avery comfortable plase to stay i would as leave stay here as at home if we could get to come home once and a while they are a putting up abarix in camp 4 hudred feet long and are agetting it along very fast /
 
i am on gard and will come of at 8 o clock a munday morning General Wool is throwed out of office and General Hooker i think has taken his plase i expect to go to shoemakeing in the morning i did work some last week we halve got 1 pair of shoes apiece and apair of pants one pair of socks apiece you said you wanted us to come with out a furlow when we come but i think that you made a ma stake we could come but i wont do that way there was a woman ofered me a suit of close to come but i wont do it when our boys want to go to Baltimore they change there close the Kernel cant give any passes or furlows he gave one of / the captains apass to Baltimore and they took him up and the kernel had very hard work to get him back and if they would get eny us they would stop us at fort Mchenry dureing the war i will tell you about the close i halve 1 cap 1 dress coat 1 blouse 1 great coat 3 shirts 2 pair pants 2 pair of drawers 5 pair socks 1 pair of gloves Ware very muc oblige to you for the money and maby we will get to pay it back some time i halve anice nife i ame agoing to send to ben by the first one is out here there is nothing more at present but remain your sun
