seated my self this evening to scribble a few lines two Let you know that I am well at presant and sincerly hope that they will find you and the rest of the family well the other Boys is well also well we halve very nice wether here now But while we was on the road it rained some and made the roads very muddy for it dont take very much rain two make them muddy here for the Land is very low / Here and we halve two make Corderoy road two holl our ratuns on or the wagons would Cut in two the axel well I supose you would like two know some thing a Bout the Markets here these is the sutlers prices Apples 5 cts apiece Butter 50 cts Eggs 50 cts Cheese 30 cts dried Beaf 30 oysters 1 00 dolar a can Cakes 1/2 for 25 cts dates 90 cts horse hide boots from 8 50 to 9 00 dolars half soleing boots 1 50 cts onions 12 cts lbs tin cups 15 cts Coffee boilers one dolar tin plates 15 cts a knife and a fork 40 cts and also whiskey from 2 00 two 3 00 dolars abottle or 2 00 dolars a pint but we draw enough of that kind / From the Goverment well that is enough of that well I ow 9 00 dolars here and uncle sam oues mee 12 00 on the last two months and 26 on the other two and Ben F McUlliah 10 05 Henry Dixen 8 50 and Ulyes Wheeler 1 50 Ben 1 00 Jesse Carter 1 00 George Rolston 80 and Lasero Briggs 1 00 James S Berry hill 50 I can send you all of that but a bout 10 dollars and maby more a gain the time comes two bee payed off for there is a good many a gitting mee two half sole there Boots and that is 1 50 cents a pair or 50 cts and them find every thing well there is nothing more of any im portance this time / so I will Bring my scribbleing two a Close for the preseant
