                                                                                                            Dear Father
itake this oppertunity of informing you that we are all well at present and i hope these few lines may find you the same we halve got marching orders now and are ordered to take 8 days rashins with us they are agoing to try to cut off Suards retreat they halve sent 3 batries of artilery to stop him from retreed an i think that this will stop him from a making any more rades the cavelry has bin passing all day yesterday / and artilery has bin passing to and we will start at 5 oclock in the morning we ant got to cary any thing only our blankets and over Coats and 7 days rashins there is nothing more at present s iwill close for the present
